In the final year of my engineering degree in 2018, I received a job offer that felt like a dream come true. But life, with all its twists and turns, had other plans. For nearly two years, I waited anxiously, hoping for details about my appointment and location. During this limbo, I poured my heart into preparing for exams and applications to pursue education abroad, a lifelong ambition of mine.
February 2020 brought a wave of news—both my job appointment and admission offers arrived simultaneously. My heart ached with the decision I had to make. Ultimately, I chose to decline the job offer, cherishing the precious months left with my family before my planned departure in August 2020. Little did I know, the world was about to change.
When the first wave of COVID-19 struck, it upended every plan. My dreams of studying abroad were deferred, leaving me in a state of uncertainty and despair. Each passing day felt heavier, the weight of inactivity and lost dreams pressing down on me. But in the darkest times, I sought solace in meditation, podcasts, and books. Slowly, the fog of depression lifted, revealing a spark of creativity within me
Among the many ideas that blossomed, one stood out, though it wasn’t feasible at the time. Yet, it planted a seed of hope for the future. Throughout this tumultuous period, my sister’s passion for fashion design shone brightly. Her sketches and design were more than just art; they were a testament to her purpose and passion, a beacon of light I couldn’t ignore. Inspired by her unwavering dedication and my own entrepreneurial spirit, we decided to create something together. Our initial attempts at naming our venture led us to some Italian and Greek words, but nothing felt quite right. It was during this time that I stumbled upon Amish Tripathi’s Ramchandra Series. The word ‘Iraiva’—meaning ‘lord’—resonated deeply. It spoke of luxury, panache, and comfort, qualities that felt right for our brand. ‘Iraiva’ had a universal appeal, a touch of western sophistication that we believed could resonate globally. Thus, our brand was born. What started as a simple drop shipping store evolved into an in-house brand with uniquely designed and meticulously crafted products. Iraiva became a symbol of resilience, creativity, and collaboration. Created by a strong-headed and optimistic man and a powerful, cheerful young woman, Iraiva is more than brand.
